SE1 - Recurrent crashes with 'Graphics device driver has crashed' message
Hi support team,
Since several days I've got recurrent crashes in SE1 with the following message:
This does not occur with any other game, including SE2. I noticed to avoid this message I need to start SE1 immediately after Windows boot (here Windows 10) and this works for a little while but now I've got random crashes very often.
Could you please have a look at the attached logs files ?
(I plan to migrate to Windows 11 soon as I've seen there are improvements and a better stability for games)
I think you have the specs in the logs but in case: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 32Gb RAM DDR-3200, ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PLUS, ASUS RTX4070 with latest drivers version (596.49), OS and game folders on SSD M.2 NVMe
Thank you.
I have the same bug

Hello Engineer,
Thank you for writing to us on our PC Support forum.
To begin with, could you please first check whether you have active overclocking on your GPU, or any other graphics-related settings that could be causing instability or overloading the game? If possible, try optimizing/resetting the graphics driver settings for the game, as that may help resolve the issue.
Once you have done that, please also verify your game files and delete the CFG file and ShaderCache folder as well.
Verify your game files in Steam
Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file
Delete ShaderCache folder
After completing these steps, launch the game and, for now, change your graphics settings in Options → Graphics → Quality Preset to Medium. Please avoid using customized settings for now, as we are currently trying to narrow down the cause of the crashes.
The reason for this is that we have received a few reports where higher values for Grass Density and Grass Draw Distance could lead to crashes. Keeping the graphics preset on Low or Medium can help test whether that is related to your issue.
Also, please check Options → Display → Video Adapter and make sure your dedicated graphics card is selected there. Save the settings afterward.
Once done, please start a new fresh vanilla/unmodded world or join a vanilla server (you can also try one of our Keen Official servers). Play for a while in single-player or on a vanilla server and check whether the issue still occurs.
If the crashes no longer happen there, but only occur in your usual modded world, then the MODs are likely the cause of the crashes. Based on the logs you shared, you currently have around 160 MODs enabled in the world, and one or more of them could be responsible for the issue.
However, if the game still crashes while playing in a vanilla/unmodded world or server, please send us the logs from that session while keeping the graphics settings configured as suggested above.
Kind Regards,

Hi,
I did already the integrity check and cache+cfg cleaning operations without success. However setting the graphics to medium has a positive effect it seems. I'll continue to try with different graphic settings but it seems now when I set it to high quality is crashes very often (maybe time for a HW upgrade...)
Thank you for you reply and for this wonderful game (my favorite)
