Suspicion of Toolbars (sensors, maybe also timers and event controllers) not working

Won't Fix

Dear KSW Support.

I would like to report issues I've recently experienced when setting up actions in a sensor which was attached to a smaller sub-part of a grid via merge block. This merge block was supposed to disconnect/unmerge from the rest of the grid. The sensor had actions set to affect entire block groups. Some of these blocks within those groups were on the sub-part itself (merged to the main grid, so basically the same grid until unmerging), some on the rest of the grid. After unmerging, the sensors may lose the block groups set into the toolbars, even though the blocks on the unmerged sub-part are also part of the block group, so basically the toolbar should be able to find those blocks to execute actions on, right? Unfortunately, it looks like these actions are not actually executed. I have encountered several issues like this lately. So my suspicion is that something either might be wrong with toolbars in sensors and timers themselves, OR that something gets confused with block groups and block-to-block-group-allocation after unmerging...

Could you perhaps see if you can reproduce a similar issue? I've encountered this both in single player and multiplayer recently.

Thank you in advance!

Hello,

Thank you for reaching our forum with this problem.

From your description, it sounds like the issue may be related to how toolbars or block groups are handled after grids are split via merge blocks.

To help us reproduce and investigate this properly, could you please provide:

  • A save file with the affected grids already set up
  • Ideally a short video showing what happens before and after unmerging
  • If possible, a few reproduction steps so we can follow the same setup on our side

A save file would be especially helpful here, since it should preserve the exact grid setup, merge state, toolbar actions, and block groups involved.

You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.

Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,
