Rover / Ship identified as static grid

Won't Fix

Came back to my save after a period and my ship ( rover ) cannot move - I looked and it is now identified as a static grid - the option to change it to a ship is greyed out. Tried restarting, removing wheels, sitting it on landing gear, changing cockpit.

Hello Rob,

Thank you for reaching our forum with this problem.

Can you please try to make a blueprint of the affected grid and try to pass it/weld it back again?

You can also try to copy-paste the grid (using Ctrl +C/V), when you are playing in Creative world or have the Creative Tools On (Alt + F10, Enable Creative Tool) in the survival world.

When you build or paste the grid anew to the world, can you switch from static to dynamic as expected?

If you are still experiencing any problems with this even after trying these steps, please share us the affected world save.

You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.

Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards,
