Hello Alex,
Thank you for reaching out to us, and we sincerely apologize for the issue you have been experiencing.
To resolve this, you can either borrow the SpaceEngineers.cfg file from a friend who also plays Space Engineers (which can be found in the AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers folder on your friend's device) and paste it in the same folder on your device.
Or you can try a 'clean installation' of the game. A 'clean installation' is a more thorough process that ensures all remnants are removed before reinstallation.
To perform a clean installation, please follow these steps:
After completing the above steps, reinstall the game through Steam and check if the issue persists. If the issue is resolved, you can move your Saves and Blueprints folders back to \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
If the issue continues, open Task Manager and 'End Task' all programs related to Space Engineers. Then relaunch the game from Steam. If the game still fails to launch, please send us the latest log file (the log file named as SpaceEngineers_ ).
Kind Regards,
Keen Software House: QA Department

Hello Alex,
Usually, the game creates a new SpaceEngineers.cfg file automatically after a clean installation if it’s missing. Did you launch the game after reinstalling it?
If not, please try launching the game. If it starts correctly, that means the game has successfully created the SpaceEngineers.cfg file in the AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers folder.
If the game still does not launch correctly even after a clean installation, then, as requested in our previous response, please send us your latest log file so we can investigate the issue further.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Kind Regards,

Hello Alex,
Thank you for sharing all the details and log files so far, and for your continued patience throughout this process.
In the most recent log file, the error is still the same related to a missing configuration file. To further resolve this, we’re attaching a known working SpaceEngineers.cfg file that you can use.
Please follow the steps below to apply the configuration file:
C:\Users\DmaniacA\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers
If the issue still occurs, please send us your latest log file (generated after placing the provided configuration file in the SpaceEngineers folder) so we can investigate further.
Kind Regards,
Keen Software House: QA Department

Hello Alex,
Thank you for sharing the log file, and we are sorry to hear that placing the configuration file did not help resolve the issue.
Based on the new log, the SpaceEngineers.cfg file is now being read and loaded correctly by the game. However, the log stops shortly after the configuration is loaded and does not report any in-game error. When this happens, it usually indicates that the game process is being terminated by something outside of the game itself, such as a driver-level issue or interference from another application. This is also why no specific error appears in the Space Engineers log.
To continue investigating this, we’ll likely need to review the Windows Event Viewer logs from the time the game closes, as those often contain relevant system-level errors in cases like this. Before moving on to that, please try the following steps, as they may resolve the issue.
- Please fully close Steam and Space Engineers, then open Task Manager and make sure that all Space Engineers and Steam-related processes are completely closed.
- After that, restart Steam, allow it to finish starting up and log in fully, and then verify the game files by right-clicking Space Engineers in your Steam Library, selecting Properties, navigating to Installed Files, and choosing “Verify integrity of game files.”
- Once the verification process is complete, launch the game directly from Steam.
If the game still does not open after trying these steps, please send us the Windows Event Viewer log from the time the game closes.
To get the Windows Event Viewer log, please open the Event Viewer (from the start menu, type Event Viewer). In the Event Viewer, go to Windows Logs, Application, and send the top “.NET Runtime” error from Application: SpaceEngineers.exe. (please see attached image).
To do this right, please follow these steps:
1) Select the correct file on the left side (Application)
2) Select first the .NET runtime error from the top (using default ordering)
3) Copy the large bottom text and send it to us.
Please Note: make sure that the info is from the Application: SpaceEngineers.exe
