The laser antenna bug

Ethan Powers shared this bug 2 days ago
Investigating

When spawning in a grid with laser antenna(s) on a dedicated server it breaks the grid, causing it to make all systems like hinges, buttons, doors, etc all useless. In the terminal it appears as if it were on. This only applies to creative servers

The only known way to fix it is to have something like a projector and weld/place a laser antenna on it.

Hello Ethan,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum.

We tried to reproduce the issue on our side, but we didn’t experience the same behavior.

Could you please share a bit more information about the issue you encountered?

Did it occur on a modded server (with active mods) or an unmodded Creative server?

If the server was modded, please try reproducing the issue on an unmodded Creative server by pasting a blueprint of the affected grid. If the issue does not occur there, it is very likely related to one of the mods. Since the new update was recently released, some mods that were previously compatible may no longer work as expected.

However, if the issue still occurs on an unmodded server, please send us a screen recording/video showing the issue, along with the blueprint of the affected grid. Please also let us know if there are any specific steps needed to reproduce the issue on the shared grid.

  • You can access your blueprints files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Blueprints. Select the correct folder where your blueprint is saved (local or cloud), zip the file and attach it here.

Kind Regards,

Hey, so I have tried this on both a modded and unmodded server. The way to reproduce it is by blueprinting something on a private server that has a laser antenna, then going to a dedicated server. I have two methods currently that solve it, one is by attaching the laser antenna after spawning and the other, albeit more temporary is by just using the laser antenna on any GPS whether in range or not.

I am not home currently to send a blueprint but when I get home I will send you the first two that broke.

Hello Ethan,

Thank you for sharing the additional information.

We’ll try to reproduce the issue with the details you’ve provided, but having the blueprint of the grid that caused the issue on your side would be greatly appreciated.

A screen recording/video showing the issue would also be very helpful for our further investigation.

Kind Regards,
