4k UI elements too small to read.

James Powell shared this bug 6 years ago
Solved

I play on a 4k TV and sit across the room on the couch to play. In 4k resolution, any ore, antenna, or GPS signals that are shown in the HUD do not scale properly making them extremely difficult to read at any distance that isn't directly in front of the screen.

I've attached a screen shot to show what I mean.

Same, the small text makes the game almost unplayable for me.. hate having to strain my eyes so much to read text that you should be allowed to scale

Hello, Keen Team, please add a feature to control the HUD Text size, I am barely able to read GPS or Antenna IDs on screen - having a 4k screeen, a meter away. Also, I use a filter (f.lux) that reduces blue exposure to my eyes at night - what makes the text harder to read. Havingan option to display text in the HUD in red or green would help a lot.

I have the same issue, I cant read any of the GUI text easily from 1 meter away from a 49" display! To read any of that I need to get myself a lot closer to my display, needing to bend over to read some text pretty often puts me in a serious disadvantage in combat situations and does not help in my back pain. Honestly I think this should have been a feature ages ago. :/

I thought I saw a streamer once that had a mod or something that increased signal text size in 4k, but now I can't find it. So adding my voice including another screenshot of the tiny signal text size.

Hello!

I appreciate this thread is quite old. Thank you for bringing this to light again and I'm sorry this is causing an issue for you all. I have now reported this internally so will be awaiting a fix. Thank you very much for the information and screenshots and I hope you can enjoy 4K a little easier in the future :)

Kind Regards

So.. 20 months later from Laura K's reply. Still no fix. Great developer.

If they really cant bother to fix even small nuisances which are a big thing for quality of life dont expect anything bigger to be fixed. What about solar panels? They had a nice working LOS model and they screwed that up completely in a patch, havent even bothered rolling it back. Jesus.

Hello, Engineers!

This issue should be already fixed from our side.

Can you please confirm that it is better for you now?

If you are still experiencing this issue, can you please supply new screenshots how the UI looks for you currently? It would be great if you can share me images from in-game (GPS markers, resources coordinates, unknown signals etc.), and from the Main menu as well (New game -> Scenarios/Custom game text size).

If you are still experiencing the issue, can you also please specify in your reply what exact resolution are you using?

Any more additional information that you can share with me (if the issue changed anyhow for you in the past, the current behavior is different but still wrong etc.) would help as well.

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards

the issue is inversed today, I cant scale UI/HUD at all, GPS and letters are too big , I wish I had them small just like on the screenshot the OP provided in the topic, HUD is locked to the monitor not the resolution :/

no matter what I try the font scale is broken, changing resolution doesn't change font in the games HUD, tried different graphics settings and scalling, nothing helps, its like you forced the HUD to be HD permanently in recent update.

Hello, Engineers,

as there is no reply about this issue anymore, I take it you are also satisfied with the current behavior.

I will close this thread now.

PolandSpaceProgram, as for you, if you feel that there still might be something broken/not working fine, please create new thread, as this one was about the elements being too small.

Now they are the same size across all platforms and on all resolutions; this issue is fixed. What you are describing seems like different problem that would need another look into etc.

Thank you for your understanding.

Kind Regards
