"Server not responding"

Investigating

Hello, My steam user is waffleyt29 i play on PC steam servers

I'm a new member to Space Engineers, i got really hooked to the game after a friend showed me it, he even bought me the game as an early birthday gift. I got it during August 1 2025 and immediately hoped on a server "Keen US #9" a few months later to present day i was attempting to join and as usual it said "Joining world" - "Waiting for server to Respond" but then it said "Server didn't Respond" something like that. I'm using the latest version of Space Engineers too, I've never gotten this error unless there's no Wi-Fi.

For further information this began happening after a city wide blackout occurred and i could only play offline for a bit, the power came back he next day then the error began. Before the blackout i was attempting to join the server (Keen US #9) then the power went out. This happens with every server i try to join as well so its not a specific server bug.

I have tried my own trouble shooting options and they go as follow:

  • Restart my device.
  • Close and re-open the game.
  • Use Youtube tips.
  • And now call for help.

I just want to get back online and have some fun so please ad-hear to my calls and help, if you want further information ill gladly provide if i can of course.

Hello Engineer,

Thank you for reaching out on the forum.

It’s quite possible that the sudden power loss caused an improper shutdown of Steam or the game, which may have led to some files loading incorrectly and causing this issue.

To resolve this, please try the following steps:

Verify your game files in Steam

  • Right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • This will repair any missing or corrupted files.

Check your network connection

  • If you’re using Wi-Fi, try connecting via an Ethernet cable.
  • If you’re already using a cable, try connecting through a mobile hotspot to rule out local network issues.

Check antivirus, VPN, and system updates

  • Temporarily disable your antivirus or VPN (if active).
  • Make sure your OS and network adapter drivers are fully up to date. To check network adapter drivers, go to Device Manager → Network Adapters → Right-click → Update driver.

Test on an official Keen server

  • After completing the above steps, try joining one of Keen’s Official Servers and see if the issue persists.

If the issue still occurs, please share the log file from the time of the issue. The log file name starts as, SpaceEngineers_

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind Regards,

Keen Software House: QA Department

Hello, again

I've tried your steps but sadly nothing worked out so here's the log files like you asked, but in the mean time I'll be trying some Youtube tips, if they do work out and you haven't responded in time ill let you know that the problem is resolved leaving the video link for any others that might have this issue (if that is ok with you of course).
