Freehand Block Rotation with ALT+W,A,S or D

As I have keybound ALT + WASD to rotate a block I have found that trying to do it to create a new grid will only increase in tiny increments and the button has to be pressed again, I cannot hold down the button to rotate continuously (unlike DEL,END etc). Rotating on an existing grid works perfectly fine
I have the same bug Access denied
