I have the same issue. This didn't happen right before the update came out, as I was playing with my friend at the time on his world.

I have tried hosting, but whenever he tries to connect to my world, his game crashes.

We both bought the Apex Survival DLC.

My friend is on Linux and doesn't know where to find the log file. It happening without mods. Haven't tried it with default world settings, but we are on an earth-like planet.

My friend and I also have that problem, joining an unmodded Solar System start was impossible for us, red ship start worked. The Solar System start was stuck at 100%, regardless of who tried to join who

Hello Engineers,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum.

Could you please confirm, are you currently trying to join your friend’s game via the Steam Overlay?

If so, please try the following workarounds that may help:

  1. Open Space Engineers → go to Join Game > Friends → and attempt to join your friend’s lobby from there (rather than through the overlay). This will likely resolve the issue.
  2. If the friend’s game does not appear in the Join Game screen, please make sure all players (including the host) are using the same Steam Download Region.
  • You can check this under Steam → Settings → Downloads → Download Region.
  • If players are in different regions, please set everyone to the same region as the host.

Once done, the host’s game should appear in the Join Game > Friends screen for all clients. Please check if you can then successfully join this way.

If this resolves the issue, just to let you know, we already have an internal ticket open regarding the problem with joining via the Steam Overlay here;

https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/48996

If it does not resolve the issue, please send us the latest log files from both the host and client at the time the issue occurs so we can investigate further.

  • You (all players and host) can access log files by typing %appdata% into the Windows search bar → navigate to Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind regards,

Yes, we are trying to join via the steam overlay. We also don't have the option to join via friends, we tried, but I (the host) wont show up. We have already tried some workarounds, and checked that we were in the same download region, we even switched together to a different one and tried today (one day later) again. We also checked that the advanced settings wouldn't keep the server from showing up. This is very frustrating since the Red ship and empty world start still works, we also kept the mods, since they didn't seem to make a difference. We didnt try direct connect as I have yet to figure out a way to see the IP of the server, and it doesnt seem to be my public IP. Here are the logs, they are though still with mods, but they are often used and respected mods, which I checked and there doesnt seem to be any newly known issues, but I also could be wrong, but then again removing them didnt do anything
