P2P multiplayer not functioning

Shine Blins shared this bug 42 days ago
Need More Information

Trying to connect via P2P (public servers seem to be fine??) from the friends list and or via an invite from the F3 menu, leads the other players to get stuck on the respawn screen with "Streaming" indefinetly, and after rejoining from that point, as long as their character is alive, they get stuck in spectator mode with "game paused"

this occurs in both vannila / modded worlds, that are freshly made, while also trying With plugins, and without. this wasnt an issue the last time we played on the 21st or ever previously, but now from the 26th and today it has made multiplayer practicaly unplayable, we all have good internet, and equally good computers,

Hello Shine,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum.

Could you please confirm, is this issue occurring when joining via Steam Overlay → Friend list, or through the in-game Join Game → Friends panel?

If the issue happens when using the Steam Overlay, then it is the same as reported in the following thread, which we are already aware of. There is an internal ticket open for it here;

https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/48996

Since the issue is still under investigation internally, please try the following workarounds in the meantime, as they may help:

  1. Open Space Engineers → go to Join Game → Friends → attempt to join your friend’s lobby from there (instead of through the overlay). This often resolves the issue.
  2. If the friend’s game does not appear in the Join Game screen, please make sure all players (including the host) are using the same Steam Download Region.
  • You can check this under Steam → Settings → Downloads → Download Region.
  • If players are in different regions, please set everyone to the same region as the host.
  • Once done, the host’s game should appear in the Join Game → Friends screen for all clients.

Please check if you can then successfully join this way.

We also attempted to reproduce the issue via invite from the F3 screen, but it did not occur on our side. Could you please send us log files from both the host and the client (you) at the time the issue occurs so we can investigate further?

  • You (and host) can access log files by typing %appdata% into the Windows search bar → navigate to Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind regards,

This issue does appear to be currently intermittent, as it sometimes happens and sometimes does not, but yes it does appear to be the same issue as was posted to the other support ticket, but currently i am not capable of providing any logs since my old logs were seemingly auto deleted by SE

Hello Shine,

Thank you for confirming.

Could you let us know if you’ve tried the workaround we suggested in our previous responses? Did it resolve the issue?

If not, please send us the log files as requested so we can investigate further.

Kind regards,
