bad performance welding sub-grid missiles on large ships

Won't Fix

I made some grid ai missiles to put on some of my ships these work fine on smaller ships but when i put them on my largest ship which is about 430 metres long it causes the sim speed to drop tragically. I assume this is just base on the limitations of the v-rage 2 engine but though id bring it up anyway in case something can be done. also it doesn't matter how many missiles are on the ship I tried with multiple different mounts of missiles and got the same result. i even tried removing all the other sub-grids on the ship

Thanks

Jonathan

Hello Jonathan,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum and sharing detailed information about the performance drop you are experiencing. We appreciate the troubleshooting steps you have already taken, including testing with different missile amounts and removing other sub-grids.

To further resolve this, if the missiles have active AI, we suggest temporarily disabling the AI on the missiles to see if there is an improvement in sim speed.

Additionally, removing non-essential components from the main grid might help identify if any specific blocks are contributing to the issue.

If you are using any MODs, testing the scenario in a vanilla (unmodded) world may help determine if MODs are affecting performance. You could also try spawning your large ship with the AI missiles in a fresh, vanilla, empty world without any additional grids. This would help isolate the issue.

Pressing Shift + F11 in-game will display performance statistics, which can help pinpoint when and where the lag is occurring. Please let us know if the performance issues persist after these steps. Your findings will help us assist you further in resolving the issue.

Kind Regards,
