Invisible asteroids for non-host players

PÁRKÁNY shared this bug 22 days ago
Solved

Since the Fieldwork update, the game is partially unplayable in peer-to-peer multiplayer because, every asteroid is invisible to other players who are not the host.

The asteroids still have collision for all players.

Upon changing the asteroid's voxel, it renders for the non-host players too, but only within a certain area, if you go to another asteroid, then it is again invisible.

Reproduction steps in my case:

  1. Create any new world that has randomly generating asteroids
  2. Have another player join the world
  3. Have both players go to the same asteroid
  4. The host can see it and the joined player cannot

Please see the short video provided for a demonstration: https://youtu.be/6b_ho4s90MU?si=soWmq_Mg5a1sdBTI

(The part where we fly to the next asteroid was cut to save time).

Let me know if I can provide anything that could help in solving this issue.

Hello engineer,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum.

We attempted to replicate the issue on our end but did not encounter any similar issues. Could you please provide more information about the issue you are experiencing?

What was your or the host's ping when the issue occurred? To check this while connected to the lobby, press F3 and check the ping value. If the ping is unusually high, the issue could be related to network latency. However, if the ping is optimal, could you confirm if there are any MODs active in the lobby where you experienced the issue?

If MODs are active, please try connecting to a vanilla (unmodded) lobby or server and see if the issue persists. If the issue only occurs in that particular modded lobby, it is likely related to the MODs. Please note that we do not provide support for MODs, as maintaining compatibility with the latest game version is the responsibility of the MOD creators.

However, if the issue still occurs in a vanilla/unmodded lobby or server, please send us the log file from the time the issue happened, along with a recent video showing the issue in that lobby/server.

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind Regards,

Both players reinstalling the game solved the issue for some reason. Thank you for your response and time! Feel free to delete this bug report.
