Can't use "C" while placing blocks?

Using 1.206.030 b1
Have a game in creative with an armor block selected. Hold ctrl and turn a little so you have 3 or so blocks about to be placed. You can press WASD to move a little, press spacebar to go up a little, but C to go down doesn't work. C works otherwise for going down.
For remedy I've tried rebooted PC, hitting Steam client with a shovel, verified game files. This happens with survival with admin tools on other save.
