Skin change unmerges a merge block

Hi
Build a simple grid. Setup event controller so lights go on when merge unmerges.
-try and change COLOR ONLY. Nothing special happens, only color changes.
-change skin, lights start flashing meaning merge block unmerged for a moment.
Very problematic when trying to repaint a grid with this function.
Please fix.
