Let me start by saying that I am writing through a translator and apologize in advance for any mistakes.

Recently I encountered a problem with launching the game and of course I went to look for help in the community, but after going through all the recommended checks (checking game files, reinstalling and a number of others) to solve the problem, namely launching the game and the appearance of its process without direct work (or opening, I don’t know how to say it more correctly) I decided to contact support. I also suspect that the problem is related to changing the user name (I needed to change the language in it, so I changed it radically).

Can you please provide me more information?


What exactly is the problem, please? Do the does not start at all? Only from Steam, or did you try to run it using the local .exe file as well?

Can you please double check that you did all general workarounds? These are:


  • Verify your game files in Steam - right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) - you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder - same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Please go through this list and try the provided steps.

If nothing would world for you, can you please share me a log from the game, if any is created?

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

If there is no game log available, could you check and send us the log from Windows Event Viewer instead? This might provide more insight into what’s happening.

The problem is this: I click on "play" in steam, the button turns blue "close" (i.e. the game "started") and the corresponding process "Space Engineers" appears, which, in addition to the memory load of about 34.4-34.5 MB, does nothing else. At the same time, the game itself does not start.

I also tried to run through the exe file, and even on behalf of the administrator, but it did not give a result.

In addition to all this, I followed all the steps below.

+ I attached the logs that were on the path you indicated.

I also tried the method with Event Viewer, but for some reason I do not have it.
