DS getting forced trash settings of 50 blocks at 250m

Not a Bug

I have a recent issue with my server. Somehow it is getting forced trash settings for 50 blocks at 250 meters. I change in the config file to 20 blocks at 2000m. When I open the DS application, the settings are correct. If I press save or save and start, they change back to 50 blocks at 250m.

The server is set to console compatible, EOS, and enabletrashsettingsplatformoverride is false.

I can change the settings in the admin menu and save, but they revert at next restart.

Hello Chad,

Thank you for reaching out to our forum.

Could you please confirm whether you're modifying the Sandbox_config.sbc file, located in the AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineersDedicated\Saves\[world name] folder?

Additionally, when you manually change the above mentioned values in the Dedicated Server Manager Client (app), do they also revert?

Kind Regards,

Yes I have changed in the config file and in the application. The application values do change to the 50 block 250m when it is first opened.

I did figure out what is causing this. If console compatible is checked, it will always force these settings.

Hello Engineer,

Thank you for reaching out!

This behavior is expected when the console-compatible option is enabled. Some consoles—especially PlayStation 4 and Xbox One—have very limited RAM and processing power compared to modern PCs. To ensure stable gameplay and prevent performance issues, certain settings, such as trash removal limits, are automatically enforced.

You can disable console compatibility if you want different settings, but please bear in mind that only PC players will be able to join in that case.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

Best Regards,

Keen Software House
