Space engineers | The problem with starting the game Space engineers

Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2690 v4 @ 2.60GHz 2.60 GHz

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080TI

Hello!

The problem is as follows:

I used to play this product on my computer and it started without any problems. I stopped playing after that and now I decided to return to it, but I ran into a problem, it looks like this, after starting the game in steam, it doesn't start, but it starts to be displayed in the task manager and it exists there, it doesn't show any errors, logs, requirements and other things. At the same time, the game is displayed as running in the steam. I tried to perform manipulations from the game's website, specifically NET recovery, clean reinstallation, reboot, and more. None of this solved the problem. Writing in the steam discussions, a man with the nickname Dan2d3d offered me a solution to the problem based on the advice of the site, but since this was done before, they did not help, after we rolled back to version dx9-32 and the game started.

I would also like to point out that, with the exception of the video card, I had previously played on the same computer configuration, and I upgraded the video card to 1080TI, although it was 1050TI before that. Also, in addition, I think it should be mentioned that not only I have the game, but also my wife, who plays on a weaker computer and runs it without any problems.

Computer System Specifications: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2690 v4 @ 2.60GHz 2.60 GHz RAM 16.0 GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080TI Video Adapter System type 64-bit operating system, x64 processor

As well as the only log that could be pulled out:

Thank you. It's just that my English skills are very poor, and I couldn't find the right topic. I'm writing messages through a translator)

I'll be waiting for a response.

Hello Engineer,

Thanks for sharing the detailed info! The missing configuration file (SpaceEngineers.cfg) seems to be the reason for this issue, according the log you provided. However, your GPU upgrade could also be a factor, as hardware changes can sometimes require updated settings or drivers.

Here are steps to try (some you may have already done, but please let’s confirm):

  1. Verify Game Files: Right-click Space Engineers in Steam → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files.
  2. Delete ShaderCache Folder: Go to %appdata%\Roaming\SpaceEngineers, delete ShaderCache.
  3. Back Up and Remove Roaming Folder: Back up the entire SpaceEngineers folder and delete it.
  4. Reinstall VC Redist 2017: Get both x86 and x64 from Microsoft’s site.
  5. Update GPU Drivers: Ensure your GTX 1080 TI drivers are up to date.
  6. Reinstall the Game and check that Windows is fully updated.

Since the config file isn’t being created, try copying one from another player (like your wife’s system) and placing it in your \Roaming\SpaceEngineers folder.

Lastly, ensure the game runs on your dedicated GPU (not integrated) and check the NVIDIA Control Panel for conflicting settings.

Let me know if anything from this works for you.

Kind Regards,
