Game wont launch from main menu

Won't Fix

This is going to be a bit long winded so I apologise in advance.

Initially the game wouldn't even launch from steam, I'd get a black screen and it wouldn't go any further.

After looking through the guides on steam and trouble shotting forums, I followed the devs recommendation of how to fix the issue.

The work around for skipping the intro seemed to work and it got me to the main menu but as soon as I launch a new game it goes to a black loading screen and then i have to tab out and it crashes. I waiting 15mins to see if maybe it was just a load time but after which it was still stuck in the same place.

I then went through the steps of set out by Dan2D3D on the Forum/community work arounds and so far have done;

restarting the pc, verified game files, deleted the CFG file and ShaderCache folder and that didnt work.

I then went on to download the C++ (x64: vc_redist.x64.exe) and then re-verified the game files and it still gets me stuck after trying to launch it from the games main menu.

I then followed the safe steps 1 - 7 and did a complete clean wipe, reinstall and restart and it got me back to square 1. (No boot from steam) so I readded the "-skipintro" and again still doesnt launch, i even tried lowering my specs to low and that didnt work.

I tried launching the game with no steam overlay but that also didn't work.

I then updated my drivers and restarted my computer to see if that maybe fixed the issue and I'm faced with the same issue.

finally, I went through the event viewer and it gives me this warning and error.

Im not very computer savvy, I'm sorry and I dont fully know what those error codes mean but I've exhausted all my knowledge and research abilities to find the issue. from what I summerise however is that windows stops communicating with space engineers, I think?

Is there any thing else I could possibly try, that you could help me with.

The next thing I've found on the Microsoft community forums is to remove wlihvui.dll from the C:\Windows\System32 but I'm hesitant to remove this incase it stuffs something up.

Hello Dane,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum. We sincerely apologize for the issue you’ve been experiencing.

We've had similar reports associated to the error you are experiencing (0xc0000005) in the past, and some players have resolved this issue by setting their grass density to 0 before launching/loading the game. Could you please try this workaround and let us know if it helps?

To do this:

  1. Go to the game’s main menu.
  2. Navigate to Options > Graphics.
  3. Adjust the Grass Density slider to 0.
  4. Press OK to save the changes.

Afterward, check if you are able to start/load and play the game.

If this resolves the issue, we understand that setting grass density to 0 may affect your gaming experience, though unfortunately, this is currently the only known workaround until we implement a permanent fix for this issue.

However, if the issue persists, we recommend trying to lower the Quality Preset to Low or Medium in Options > Graphics, and see if this makes a difference (make sure that the grass density is still set to 0).

If the crash continues, please share the latest game and Windows Event Viewer full log files from the time of the crash.

Kind Regards,
