Greetings, I have been running a dedicated server fine on EOS mode for a while now,

I am always able to connect, both in EOS and steam Mode , I am local to the dedicated server.

I have port forwarded 27016 to the server, later in my trouble shooting I also forwarded the port : 8766 to the server. , and tried altering the Steamport to 27016 aswel

people are unable to find the server externally in steam mode , EOS works just fine.

Hello engineer,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum.

Could you please provide more details about the issue you're experiencing?

Are other players able to join your server using the Direct Connect (by entering the server’s public IP and port)?

To confirm this, follow these steps:

  • Navigate to the Join Game > LAN tab in the game.
  • When your dedicated server is running, it should appear there.
  • Hover your mouse over it to view the public IP and port in the format steam://000.000.0.0:27016 (not the same numbers but in similar format). Share this public IP and port with other players.

Other players can then input this public IP and port in the Direct Connect section under the Join Game screen on their side to check whether they can successfully connect to your dedicated server.

If players are able to connect via Direct Connect but your Dedicated Server still doesn’t appear in the Join Game > Server list, please try the following steps:

Open the SpaceEngineersDedicated.cfg file (located in \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineersDedicated folder) and verify these settings:

  • ServerPort is set to 27016 (or your custom value).
  • SteamPort is set to 8766 (or your custom value).
  • Ensure that only one network mode (either Steam or EOS) is enabled, for example,
    <NetworkType>Steam</NetworkType>
  • Temporarily disable Windows Firewall, any antivirus software, and VPNs if they are active.

Please let us know if these steps resolve the issue for you. You can find more information on setting up dedicated servers on this link.

Kind Regards,

Greetings,

we had indeed attempted a direct connect. the server receives a signal , but that is it, the player "disconnects" before any more data is exchanged. (or at least logged ;) )

as noted in my original post I have also tried altering the ports

its also worth noting that network type is indeed "Steam" (when attempting this) and firewalls / vpn's have been disabled.

the machine also used to have multiple NIC , connected but this has been reduced to 1 as it was causing issues on both steam mode , and EOS
