Space engineers crashes on startup

Solved

I have tried reinstalling and verifying the files on steam, excluding the game from my firewall. My drivers and Windows are up to date. and whenever I open the game all I can see is [see screenshot]. Before it either closes itself or it just loads infinitely. I have checked the Windows event viewer and these happen in order:

The Open procedure for service "ESENT" in DLL "C:\WINDOWS\system32\esentprf.dll" failed with error code Access is denied.. Performance data for this service will not be available.

The Open procedure for service "MSDTC" in DLL "C:\WINDOWS\system32\msdtcuiu.DLL" failed with error code The system cannot find the file specified.. Performance data for this service will not be available.

The Open procedure for service "WmiApRpl" in DLL "C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\wmiaprpl.dll" failed with error code The device is not ready.. Performance data for this service will not be available.

The program SpaceEngineers.exe version 1.0.0.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.

Hello engineer,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum. We're sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.

Could you please provide additional details about the issue? Specifically, are you logged into your device as a Guest User or an Administrator?

If you’re logged in as a Guest, the "Access is denied" error may be due to limited permissions, which restrict the game from accessing necessary files and can prevent it from launching correctly.

If you’re logged in as an Administrator, we recommend trying the following steps:

  1. Launch both Steam and Space Engineers using the "Run as Administrator" option and check if this resolves the issue.
  2. If the game fails to launch or gets stuck during loading, open Task Manager, end all Space Engineers-related processes, and try launching the game again.

If the issue persists or the game crashes, please share the game’s log file and the Windows Event Viewer log with us.

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

To get the Windows Event Viewer log, please open the Event Viewer (from the start menu, type Event Viewer). In the Event Viewer, go to Windows Logs, Application, and send the top “.NET Runtime” error from Application: SpaceEngineers.exe. (please see attached image).

To do this right, please follow these steps:

1) Select the correct file on the left side (Application)

2) Select first the .NET runtime error from the top (using default ordering)

3) Copy the large bottom text and send it to us.

Please Note: make sure that the info is from the Application: SpaceEngineers.exe

Kind Regards,

I am logged in as Administrator but running Steam with the "Run as Administrator" seems to have fixed the issue, many thanks for your support!
