game soft locks offline or on server

Won't Fix

I'm really not sure what's going on. I've tracked the event viewer and the Resource monitor on win11 but I can't seem to figure out what's causing it. I'll be playing just fine then I'll hear like a device disconnect sound and I no longer have any game control. trees will still move and such but I can't interact with the application. I've reset my Virus Protection software (VIPRE), I've turned firewall off, turned gaming mode on, made a firewall exception for space engineers, and shut down the VP entirely but it still happens.


Now, when I try to close the tab by alt+tab and right clicking and closing the game it doesn't but when I switch back to the game it asks if I want to save. Again, I will still have no mouse or keyboard control.


Have you heard of this issue happening?

Could you please specify which platform you are using to play the game? Are you playing on Steam, the Windows Store, or a different platform such as GeForce Now?

If you are playing on Steam, could you let us know if the server or offline world where you encountered this issue has active MODs (or you have Plugins active in your game)? If plugins are enabled, please remove them and check if the issue persists. Similarly, if the server or world is modded, we recommend creating a vanilla (unmodded) world or joining an unmodded server, such as Keen’s official servers, to see if the issue still occurs.

If the issue does not occur in a vanilla/unmodded world or server, the issue is likely caused by the MODs or Plugins in use. However, if the issue persists even in a vanilla/unmodded world or server, please enable world stats while in the game by pressing Shift + F11 and share a screen recording/video showing the issue, along with the log file from the time the issue occurred.

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
