Won't Fix

This bug seems to occur most often when lighting changes often.


Things like sunset and sunrise and when looking at neon colors.


There is another version where very bright lights shine on seemingly random places on the screen. Almost as if there we're multiple sun objects of various neon colors (most often green or purple). These lights do cause a light pollution effect as if you were standing next to an actual neon light coming from an appropriate block or looking from a bright interior space into a dark exterior.

Thank you for reporting this problem.

To help us investigate further, could you please provide more information about your setup and environment?


  • Are you playing on a notebook/laptop or a desktop PC?
  • If possible, could you try using a different display/monitor to see if the issue persists?
  • Are you experiencing similar visual issues in any other games or programs, or is this happening only in Space Engineers?
  • What graphics settings are you currently using in-game?
  • Does the issue occur across all worlds, or only in specific scenarios (planets, space...)?
  • Are you using any mods or scripts that could influence lighting or visuals?
  • Does this issue started to happen recently? After some game, system, PC update?

Please try our general workarounds to see if the problem will get better/solved. There are:

  • Verify your game files in Steam - right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) - you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder - same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated
