Hello timothy,

thank you for reaching our forum with this problem.

We are sorry that it is happening to you.

Can you please share more information?

Are there any active mods on the affected save file?

Can you reproduce/observe this problem on multiple worlds, or just this one?

Is this problem happening with this grid also when pasted as a blueprint? Or only on the original build?

If you can observe this problem on the blueprinted version of the grid on the same world, or even in others, please share me the blueprint:

you can access your blueprints files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Blueprints. Select the correct folder where your blueprint is saved (local or cloud), zip the file and attach it here.

If the problem is observable only on one particular save, can you please share me the whole save file?

You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.

Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards

In order to have a subgrid that will merge with the grid it's anchored to, you must have at least 2 hinges daisy-chained. so, main grid->hinge->hinge->subgrid (presumably door) . The reason is that both sides of a hinge/rotor/piston can't ever be the same grid, for whatever reason.

You can have other combinations but in my experimentation the 'base' component must always be a hinge and the one connecting to the subgrid can be a hinge, a piston or a rotor.

If I recall correctly, the youtube channel 'Pandemic Playground" had a video on the subject a few years ago where he went into pretty good detail on what sort of combinations worked and caveats to each.
