[1.205.026] Searchlight view: ship toolbar invisible, terminal inaccessible

Space Pony shared this bug 12 months ago
Solved

When controlling a Searchlight (looking through its camera):

1. Ship toolbar is not displayed, though actually works (1..9, Ctrl+1..9 work as intended);

2. Pressing I or K to access ship Terminal fails (the window opens, but says "Ship has been disconnected from terminal"). A workaround is to use the dropbox at the window's top to switch to your character and then back to the grid.

N. B.: Nice to know that thrust controls work from the Searchlight view, and mouse can be used for steering while holding Alt (to switch from mouse-controlling the Searchlight's orientation).

P. S.: Also working LMB/RMB for activating your tool blocks would be nice, currentlty they seem to be inoperable from Searchlight view.

Hello Space Pony,

Thank you for your report.

I was able to reproduce the first part of the issue with the toolbar working even when not visible and I reported it into our system.

I wasn't able to reproduce the second part of the issue, it doesn't tell me that the ship is disconnected. Could you please make a separate report for this including exact steps to reproduce?

And for the last issue, I believe it shouldn't be possible to control any other tool than the already controlled one, which could be fixed by the fix for the first part of the issue.

Kind Regards

Thank you for your response.

I was failing to reproduce the bug for a while, until I remembered that my Searchlight was mounted on the far end side of a Piston chain. So a basic reproduction device scheme looks like this:

Control Seat -- Battery -- Piston -- Searchlight

Sometimes the Piston must be extended, sometimes not, though eventually the Terminal inaccessibility should be achievable (not occuring with the Camera and Top-Mounted Camera).

If this is a sufficient clue from the developers' point of view, good. Otherwise, I believe, I'll have to conduct an extended research with various grid configurations, attaching my files to a new report.

Hello Engineer,

We would like to inform you that the issue you reported was partially fixed in the 1.206 (Fieldwork) update. It will still need more work in future updates, however.

While reviewing a list of resolved tickets, we noticed that we hadn’t posted an update here earlier — our apologies for the delay.

If you encounter any other problems, please don’t hesitate to create a new thread.

I’ll now close this one as solved.

Kind Regards,
