Server issues

Need More Information

Any time I try and join a server issues just get server not responding. Only started happening after contact update.

thank you for reaching our forum with this problem.

Can you please provide me more information?

Does this problem happen on one specific server, or with all/any? Are you experiencing the same problem also when trying to join any Keen official server? Can you please try?

Is this affecting only the servers/multiplayer? Are you able to start and play on a single player world?

Please try our general workarounds, as these help to most of the players to solve most of the issues. These are:

  • Verify your game files in Steam - right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) - you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder - same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Please let me know if anything from this works for you.

If not, please reply to my questions above and feel free to share as much information as possible.

Also please supply me a log file from any of the game sessions, where you experienced this problem.

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

It happens with all servers including keen servers. I can play on single player worlds i make. Haven't tried to see if anyone can join my worlds in multi-player. I have verified my files, I've tried a fresh install and deleted the cfg file.

Also have someone that i play with on a server having the same issue. I have restarted steam, all my systems are updated.

Personally i believe it ended up being my vpn blocking me...

Ah yes VPN and server connections do often have some problems. Ok, cool, it works for you now ;)


For me, it seemed to be a firewall problem. Removed the app from firewall exceptions and now it seems to work for the moment. Thanks for your fast reply anyway and enjoy constructing :)

Thank you for coming back to us. I had this problem a few times. For 3 days it looks stable now, but don't want to jinx it... couldn't find out the exact reason for it yet...
