Cannot paste objects

When in Creative mode or Survival with Admin mode on, I can copy objects but not paste them - I just see the screen flicker, the spinning cogs come up at the centre bottom of the screen, but nothing gets pasted. So far, I have

  1. Removed and reinstalled the game
  2. removed the 3 DLC packs I got recently
  3. removed all mods
  4. erased my profile folder
  5. tried a vanilla quick start
  6. Got my son to do a fresh install, quick start and try to copy a block in admin mode - with the same result.

Recently, I was able to copy/cut and paste fine. I'm wanting to do salvage scenarios where lifting grids out of the ground is important, so this is pretty frustrating.

Hello Peter,

Thank you for writing to us.

Could you kindly provide a bit more information about the issue? Specifically, is this happening in a particular saved world, or do you encounter it across all worlds (both new and old)?

From the log you shared, we noticed that the Total PCU limit for your world is at 100000. It’s possible you may have already reached this limit, which could be why you’re unable to paste additional grids. Here are a few steps to check if this is the cause:

  1. Try enabling “Ignore PCU Limits”: In your current world, open the Admin Screen and enable the “Ignore PCU Limits” option, then try to copy and paste grids.
  2. Create a new, vanilla (unmodded) world: Start up a new world in Creative Mode with default settings and try copy-pasting grids/blueprints there.

If you can paste grids in either of these cases, it suggests that the PCU limit in your original world is causing the issue. To adjust this:

  1. From the game's main menu, go to Load Game.
  2. Select your saved world file and click Edit Settings on the left side.
  3. Navigate to Advanced, locate the Total PCU option, and move the slider to increase the limit.
  4. Click OK (on the Advanced world setting tab) and then again click on OK button (on Edit Settings tab) to confirm the changes and load the world.

Please let us know if this resolves the issue. If not, please send us your world save file and a screen recording/video showing the issue.

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

I am a Muppet - working OK now. For some reason I thought I needed to paste with CTL-V rather than just clicking. 🥔
