Prototech or Unidentified Signals not spawning anymore

Need More Information

For some mysterious reason there is none global encounter spawning on our server. The maximum global encounter is set to 1.

Our server did not use any mods that affect the spawn logic. But used some plugin to cleanup grids. Also our server restart twice per day.


I do not know if it's related but the last global encounter's ship's prototech thruster is removed by the plugin, not sure if that will affect the spawn logic and make it delay forever.


Or I do not know if the encounter is spawning but just not broadcasting their GPS.

Thanks for reaching out to us with this issue. Here are some general troubleshooting steps for addressing issues with Global Encounters that may prevent them from appearing:

  • Ensure you're using the latest game version – Make sure you're on version 1.205.026 and have created a new world using the default settings for that version.
  • Disable mods and try to not use Torch (server extender) – Some mods or the use of Torch may prevent encounters from spawning. Try disabling all mods and playing on a vanilla world to see if the issue persists to test if the issue persists.
  • Ensure sufficient PCU for NPCs – There may not be enough available PCU for NPCs to spawn. Try removing pirate or other NPC grids to free up space. You can also increase Global Encounter PCU limit in Dedicated Server Manager. By default, there are 25k PCU allocated for Global Encounters.

It is possible that the plugin for removal didn't remove some GE grids correctly or caused an issue with allocation of the PCU. Please let us know if any of above helped or if the issue still persist.

Thanks for the reply, btw I already claimed those blocks, will the PCU still count as NPCs?

Also the problem is with Factourm, not planetary encounter. PEs are spawning fine while global encounter is not spawning

Still after we set the maximum global encounter to 2, new one is spawning. Therefore I don't think it is PCU issue

Yes, sorry, that was a typo, I've edited it to global encounter.


The claimed blocks count towards their owner - as long as the claimed block's owner is NPC faction it will be counted towards them (you need to hack them and be an owner of them).

So when you changed the maximum to 2, you are getting 1 global encounter spawned?

It’s possible that the plugin removed an encounter, but it wasn’t properly cleaned up, leaving it counted toward the maximum global encounters. As a result, a new encounter can’t spawn in its place.

Did this issue only occur on the server with the plugin? Could you try checking on server without the plugin to see if the issue persists? Thanks.

actually after I removed some Factourm grids (through the Info tab), all two was spawning. However, later, when I only kept some Prototech blocks (all the base is removed). None is spawning now.

I cannot stably reproduce this rn. But I'll see if I can summarize the process before it stops spawn.
