Random crashes

Won't Fix

Hey I seem to be crashing when using my grind. I play on my friends hosted server and none of the others are getting this issue.

I have updated all drivers. I am having no hardware issues in terms of temps etc.. I have checked game integrity and tried the game on a lot of graphics settings.

I am running a ryzen 5700x3d, rtx 4070super, 32gb corsair ram 3200mhz.

Any help would be appreciated I am new to the game and really like it but these crashes are making it nearly unplayable now.

Hello Michael,

thank you for reaching our forum with this problem.

Can you please share me more information on the subject?

What exactly do you mean by "my grind", please? Is it using grinder tool with your character? The basic one, ore any better? Or is it happening when using and controlling the grinder block on your ship/rover?

Does this happen when you are trying to use the grinder on anything?

Are there any mods active on the server?

In what form the server is, can you tell? Is it online Lobby mode, or dedicated server?

Do you experience this problem in any other world as well? Can you please e.g. try to do the same on completely new non-modded single player world (e.g. Red ship v2 or Empty Space)? Can that problem be observed there as well?

You might want to try our general workarounds. These are:

  • Verify your game files in Steam - right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) - you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder - same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

If nothing from this list works for you, can you please share me a log file from any of the affected game sessions (that crashed).

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards

Hi yes I mean my grinder, I hav already done what you have suggested and I still have the issue. I can't be 100% sure it's the grinder. But from what I am seeing it crashes when using this breaking something down mainly. Theres no crash error code, however in event viewer it says about audio.dll. I have reinstalled the game done drivers and everything like you have suggested already.

Hello Michael,

thank you for your reply.

Are you using any specific version of the grinder (normal, enhanced, proficient or elite) when this problem happens, please?

Can you reproduce the same also in other worlds? Singly player, multi player? Can you please try?

Also please share me a log file as requested before. Also, if you suspect an error visible in the Windows Event Viewer, please feel free to share that as well. That would help me to distinguish what the problem might be, seeing both logs from the time the game crashed.

Thank you,

Kind regards,

So it's any grinder, it's seems to be only when I grind like the drops or the drones from the NPC bases. Not sure how to put that. If I grind let's say a block off my base it's fine. But if I do it to a drop it crashes.

I'll try share a screenshot of my event viewer when I'm home from work
