Need More Information

When starting any new game, or trying to load an existing game, the loading screen reaches ~90% before a popup appears with the word "Unloading", followed by the attached popup stating "There was an error loading the world!"

For some reason v1.204 is working. Worlds are being created successfully. Most likely, the problem occurs in the latest update.

Hello Daniil,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum. We sincerely apologize for the delayed response to this thread.

Could you confirm if this issue persists in the latest version of the game?

From the attached log, it seems you were trying to load a previously saved world. Could you clarify if any MODs, particularly local mods, were added to the world before it initially failed to load? If so, this might relate to an issue we’re already aware about.

Since the issue is occurring with new worlds as well, please try the following steps:

Verify your game files in Steam

  • Right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file

  • It means your game configuration will be deleted
  • You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Delete ShaderCache folder

  • Same access as SpaceEngineers.cfg

After completing these steps, launch the game and create a new, vanilla (unmodded) world. If the issue persists, please share the latest log file from when the issue occurred. Additionally, could you let us know if you’re subscribed to the newsletter? This information might help us narrow down potential causes.

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind Regards,
