Peer2Peer Connection Timeout

Need More Information

So many of us are having this issue and have come to the conclusion is that in order for it to work with port forwarding I have to restart the server about 15 -20 times before it works and when it doesn't work I get the following:

2024-09-16 20:43:43.121: Peer2Peer_SessionRequest [007...543]

STEAMPS3 - AsyncTCPSocket created

2024-09-16 20:43:58.127: Peer2Peer_ConnectionFailed [007...543], Timeout

STEAMPS3 - AsncTCPSocket destroyed

2024-09-16 20:43:58.139: User left [007...543]

However when I connect using a zerotier setup or with a local lan machine on the same network I get this instead:

2024-09-16 20:49:19.474: Peer2Peer_SessionRequest [007...543]

2024-09-16 20:49:23.074: OnConnectedClient Biosphere attempt

2024-09-16 20:49:23.289: Server ValidateAuthTicketResponse (OK), Steam ID:[007...543] Owner ID:[007...543]

2024-09-16 20:49:23.434: World request received: Biosphere

If it does work I load almost immediately, so what seems to be happening is that when I am using port forwarding through a router the server thinks I am on a playstation since you can see the STEAMPS3 message TCPSocket created. When it does work you don't see that you just see OnConnectClient Attempt and loads me in perfectly. I also have turned off console compatibility. So maybe this will help with proper fix for this issue that so many of us are having. Needing to reboot the server several times in a row before it works is ridiculous. Please help very frustrating for us admins and players unable to join servers because of this.

Server Version latest and latest client was testing as of Sept 16, 2024

Hello engineer,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum.

We're sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue, and we apologize for the delayed response on this thread.

Could you please let us know if you're still encountering the issue, or has it been resolved in the meantime?

If the issue continues, we would appreciate it if you could confirm whether you have any MODs active in your Lobby. If MODs are active, please try starting a new unmodded Lobby to check whether the issue is related to the MODs or something else.

If the issue does not occur in the unmodded Lobby, it is likely caused by the previously active MODs. However, if the issue persists even in an unmodded Lobby, kindly share the complete latest log file with us.

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind Regards,

Keen Software House: QA Department
