When I first started playing Space Engineers, it took me a while to understand how inventory filters work. There are a few issues with them that could be easily fixed to improve the overall user experience.
Show Only Inventories of the Current Ship (Rocket Icon):
This should be a toggle option that works in addition to other filters. You should be able to toggle "Show Only My Ship" while still applying other filters, like showing only system inventories or only cargo inventories.
Filter Storage Inventories (Box Icon):
This filter should only display cargo containers. How often do you want to see lockers or armories that don’t even have ports for moving items? If anything, all those cockpits, connectors, passenger seats, and safe zones could be organized into a new, separate category.
Filter System Inventories (Gear Icon):
This category feels too broad. It should be split into multiple categories—for example, turrets could have their own category.
Overall, I’d like to see a single toggle for "Show Connected or Ship Only" inventories, along with a dropdown menu featuring as many specific categories as possible so you can filter out what you don’t need. Suggested categories could include: All, Cargo Containers, Assemblers, Refineries, Gas Tanks, Energy, Weapons, Cockpits, Unconnected Inventories (like cargo crates, storages, lockers, etc.), Generators (H2/O2), Connectors, and Miscellaneous.
Bonus Tip:
Please add an option to prevent certain blocks, like connectors, from storing items. See this suggestion for more info.
Nice suggestions.

The filter by item is a cool addition tho. You can ofc do that already by typing the item name into a filter, but it would be much better if you just select item from the list or apply entire category filter.
One additional thing that might be very useful is to maintain all the filters when you close the K manu and then open it again. I often checks something in in ventory and apply some complext combined fiters. Then I close the menu and do something else. Then I open up the ineventory again and all filters are gone so you need to go through applying those filter again.
The suggestio about filter by grid is also very nice. We have "this grid only" filter right now, which is exclusive to other filters. It would be much better to have a simple list of all connected grids. And you might be able to combine it with other filters. The most popular example would be: see cargo containers only on grid 1 and cargo containers only on grid 2. I usually can achieve this by carefully prefixing cargo containers on all of my grids by some unique designation so i can type this designation as a filter on left and right inventory panel. I do it because there is no actual filter to show ONLY CARGO CONTAINERS, but all inventory blocks. And the naming setup is not easy and you need to remember all those designation, make sure they are really unique and remeber to repeat the process if some ofg the blocks were replaced wit hthe default name.
Weapons only filter would ofc be very useful when loading your grid with ammo.
Nice suggestions.
