Massive frame drops on looking around

Solved

RTX 3060 laptop

Ryzen 7 5800H

Windows 10

1TB(250GB free space) NVE

32gb Ram 3200ghz

The laptop is from Lenovo. It is easy to find, considering the data I gave.

2 screens, one is from a laptop, and the other is a main FHD 27" 75ghz

Look at the front frames, which get to 120+ and as low as 50.

Start just locking left and right, and they die. In a literal sense. Falls to 8 fps

So far tested

Mods: No difference, almost.

Every single setting is absolutely the lowest: Persists issue.

Reinstall: 4 FREAKING times, persists.

Set up a dedicated server to split the CPU load, which did not help.

VSinc: Enabled/Disabled. I don't remember noticing any difference. Just had more frames than my screen could support.

Set Resolution to the lowest: Still frames drop to 8

Join server: Same issue still.

Also, this ONLY happens in the camera and player's POV.

As a ship in 3rd or first person, I can spin as much as possible.

Not 100% sure about it. But from feeling when I was playing, I had no issues on turns.

Hello, Engineer,

thank you for reaching our forum with this problem that you are experiencing. We are sorry that it is happening to you.

Can you please provide me more information?

Is this problem happening in all the worlds in game (and game modes) that you tried? In single player, Lobby multiplayer, online servers... ? In all worlds? Have you tried the same in multiple?

Since you are writing that you are having two monitors, can you please try to disable/unplug the other one any use only the one from your notebook?

In the log, I can also see that you are running the game in "Fullscreen window". Can you please try to change that as well? You can find this info in the game in Options - Display - Window mode.

Moreover, you are more than welcome to try our general workarounds that helps most of the players to solve most of the problems they are experiencing. These are:

  • Verify your game files in Steam - right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) - you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder - same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Please let me know if anything change on your side after trying these steps.

Thank you.

Kind Regards

It's happening in all types of worlds. Empty too. Just frames take much more wiggle to drop.

Verify was done. Didnt help.

Cfg was done. Didnt help.

ShaderCache was deleted. Didnt help.

I deleted both folders on the game reinstall. Didnt help.

Steam restart wat?

VC Redist 2017 has been up to the latest version for years, and every time, some game wants to update it. Will reinstall.

All drivers are up to date.

Windows is also updated (w10, not 11)

This fixed the drops to 6fps, drops now happen within acceptable range of 120-90fps when looking fast side to side.
