Controller Triggers do not work when owning all DLC?

Need More Information

I have learned that when I owned all but the newest DLC that my controller worked without any issues just like how it used to around a year ago, however immediately after purchasing and downloading the newest DLC my triggers stopped working right after the DLC finished installing and I could use the new blocks.

I'm not 100% sure that owning all the DLC is what causes it for everyone but without a doubt it was what causes it for me and I'm left clueless as to why.

Hello Gabriel,

Thank you for reaching our forum with this problem that you are experiencing.

Can you please provide me more information?

So now the controller works fine if you take one/the last one purchased/added DCL out of the game? In your Steam Library, right click on SE, Properties, DLC. Those that are ticked are added/installed. If you take any of them out (untick), the controller is working again?

If it worked in SE in the past, was there something that you changed recently and the controller started to malfunction after that; other then purchasing the said DLC? Are you able to revert back to the original state (revert some updates that were applied, uninstall any 3rd party SW that could interact with the controller...)?

Do you have any (even other) problems with this particular controller in other games, or it does work properly there?

Is the controller properly selected in the game settings; Options – Controls – Controller Selection? Try to Disable it here, with mouse and keyboard close the game, connect the controller, run the game, and from Main menu, go to set your controller in the settings again. Is it working any better now?

You can also try these steps, if you are willing:

1) On your PC, open Control panel, switch to Large Icons

2) Go to Devices and Printers

3) Right click on the gamepad and open 'Game Controller settings'

4) Select the controller and press 'Advanced' button

5) Select 'Controller (Xbox One For Windows)' as preferred device

6) Press 'Ok' button

Please also try to delete you configuration file from your PC. You can access this files (as others from the game) by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers. By deleting the "SpaceEngineers.cfg" file, your game configuration will be deleted and created anew once you run the game again.

You might also want to review the setting of the controller in the Steam: Library – right click on SE – Properties – Controller.

Also please note that the game on PC officially support only controllers for Xbox One and Xbox Series X. Do you have any of these, or are you using some other?

Please let me know if anything from above works for you.

Thank you.

Kind Regards

I tried uninstalling the DLC through Steam and checking if the triggers worked again but they didn't.

Everything is the same both before and after installing the new DLC, there has been no software used to make changes to the controller besides the fixes that have been posted and I've already tried undoing those to see if anything changed with no results.

This controller has worked flawlessly in other games, and I've never had any issues with it other than in Space Engineers, and one issue that has plagued me throughout my entire time playing SE is that the controller would randomly disconnect, there are no issues in other games with controller connection and it wasn't low battery that causes it either as I've checked that continuously almost every time it would disconnect.

I have tried doing this immediately after having issues with no success.

I have also tried this without any changes to my situation.

I have tried deleting the configuration file with no success, both now and when I last had this issue.

I have disabled steam input both as a whole and for SE.

I only use an Xbox One controller.
