steam problem

Won't Fix

upon trying to load up a world or modifying mods makes steam close with even slightly bad internet. not the window but the whole steam. after that i have to open steam again as if i just turned on my pc. this has been happening before the signal update and now too.

Can you please provide me more information?

What exactly is happening on your side?

You are writing that also the Steam is closed after the game crashes? Like you need to launch it again, log-in etc.? Or only the Steam app closes, but it is still running on background and you can open it from the toolbar on the right side of the screen (where the clock etc. are) still in the current session?

You are also writing that it is happening when loading the world. Does that mean that the game loads correctly for you, you can navigate in the Main menu etc.? Are all worlds affected like this (loading old one, starting new ones)?

You are also mentioning "mods". Please note that we do not support mods as such. It is the mod creator/owner responsibility to make sure that their mod is working with the current game. Can you please try the same on some worlds where no mods are present (also loading up some older one as well as starting completely new one)? Is the issue still present there also in the vanilla (no mods) world?

Please let me know if you are experiencing the same with the vanilla (no mods) worlds. If not, I fear that there is nothing more I can do for you, other then advice you to find the broken mod (combination of mods) yourself by taking them out one by one and trying to load up the game. As the problem is likely connected to the mods.

If this problem is still observable in game with no mods whatsoever, please first try our general workarounds. These are:

  • Verify your game files in Steam - right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) - you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder - same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

In not, can you please share me a log from the game, as well as screen recording what is actually happening on your side?

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
