Malfunctioning sensors

Ripps shared this bug 3 months ago
Reported

I have a sensor, looking for small grids from owner only.

and when i fly over a sky container.... and bring that thing into sensor range with a claw,

it doesn't detect the thing... and that makes sense... because its not my thing.

but if i pull the thing in using magnetic plates instead of actually gripping it like i did with claw.

the moment the magnetic plates lock (and it is in sensor range)* - it detects the sky container and triggers the sensor.

and its like.. that's kind of cool that it does that, i didn't know it would - and i guess because the sky container was assigned to me as player that technically means it falls under the owner group but... like.... that doesn't seem very intuitive and it must be a bug right?

or is it because.... subgrids with no owner attached to main grid via landing gear or magnetic plates count as that players grid and in that moment becomes mine?

because right now its trigging a sensor hooked up to an alarm for a totally different ship function and it gave me the idea to make it a feature.

but it behaved too randomly so i had to dig into what actually triggers the sensor and yea, magnetic plate.....
