Space Enginners Crashing - A Breakpoint Has Been Reached

Alferd Pennyworth shared this bug 3 months ago
Solved

Hello,

My name is John, and I recently got back into Space Engineers. I had played it earlier last month, and everything was working fine. However, I recently redownloaded it onto a drive, and it worked initially, but then the drive became corrupted. So, I bought a new drive and reinstalled the game.

Everything installed successfully, and I am able to launch the game and get to the main menu. However, whenever I try to launch any type of world, I get the following error message: "Breakpoint: A Breakpoint has been reached."

I have tried cleaning my entire computer multiple times without any luck. I have used the Windows Terminal to run the following commands: Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image, sfc /scannow, and chkdsk C: /r, but none of these worked. I also changed the beta version to the previous version 1.203.6 in the properties, and everything worked fine then.

I don't know if this is relevant, but I also just bought some DLCs, including all three decorative packs, Frostbite, Heavy Industry, Sparks of the Future, and Warfare 2.

If you know how to fix this problem, please reach out.

Thanks,

John

Hello Alferd,

Thank you for sharing the log file.

While we haven't found any exception errors in the log that would be causing the issue for you, we recommend trying a 'clean installation' of the game.

To perform a clean installation, please follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers and copy the Saves and Blueprints folders to a different drive or folder.
  2. Uninstall the game.
  3. Remove any remaining files from the following locations:
  • \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers
  • \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineers

After completing the above steps, reinstall the game through Steam and check if the issue persists. If the issue is resolved, you can move your Saves and Blueprints folders back to \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

If the issue continues even after trying the 'clean installation', please send us the game log file, along with the Windows Event Viewer log from the time the issue occurred.

To get the Windows Event Viewer log, please open the Event Viewer (from the start menu, type Event Viewer). In the Event Viewer, go to Windows Logs, Application, and send the top “.NET Runtime” error from Application: SpaceEngineers.exe. (please see attached image).

To do this right, please follow these steps:

1) Select the correct file on the left side (Application)

2) Select first the .NET runtime error from the top (using default ordering)

3) Copy the large bottom text and send it to us.

Please Note: make sure that the info is from the Application: SpaceEngineers.exe

Hello, Alferd!

Thank you for writing to us, and we sincerely apologize for the issue you have been experiencing.

Could you kindly try the following workarounds, which might resolve this issue for you:

Verify your game files in Steam :

Right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files (wait until all files are successfully verified) → once done, launch the game and see if the issue still occurs.

If it does, close the game and try the next step;

Temporarily disable the newly purchased DLCs and see if the game runs without them :

Right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → DLC → uncheck all the DLCs here → close this screen and launch the game.

If the issue still occurs, please try a 'clean installation' of the game. To do so, first, go to \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers and copy/paste the Saves and Blueprints folders to a different drive or folder.

Then uninstall the game and remove any remaining files from both;

  • \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers
  • \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineers folders.

After completing the steps above, please reinstall the game through Steam, and check if the issue persists. If the issue no longer occurs, you can move your Saves and Blueprint folders back to \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

You can then also try re-enabling your purchased DLCs by following the same steps mentioned above for disabling them.

Please let us know if any of these workarounds have resolved your issue. If not, please send us the log file from when this occurred.

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind Regards,
