[1.204] Temporary Containers not created if Scrap Drops is enabled

Lance shared this bug 5 months ago
Need More Information

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Enable scrap drops (by disabling the setting as of 1.204.017)
  2. Enable temporary containers
  3. Destroy a container which has items
  4. Scrap is produced, but not a temporary container. Everything inside the container is lost.

If Temporary Containers is disabled, all everything inside the container spills out as expected.

Hello, Lance,

thank you for letting us know about this problem.

However, I have tried that and I have not found issue with this on my side. Please see my images – you can see that there was always the Temporary Container dropped when the Cargo block was destroyed. Tried with the "Enable scrap drops" option On and Off just to be sure.

Can you please tell me with what items in the cargo container you can reproduce this problem. With all? Or for example when there are stored some ammo, rockets etc.?

Please be sure to try that also with objects in the container that have not explosive potential. There is a chance that when destroying the container with some ammo in it, the ammo itself will get ignited and explode... thus destroy the container/items.

If you can reproduce it with various (non-explosive) objects, components etc., please share me a save file where these filled containers can be already found and also record and share me a video with steps leading to reproduction of this issue.

You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.

Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards

I used the Original Content Earth Planet in my test just so that I had a lot of filled cargo containers readily available. I removed the ammo magazines from the containers, so they only had hydrogen and oxygen bottles.

Results from my first test were consistent. None of the destroyed containers spawned temporary containers. However, subsequent tests had mixed results. In one test, all of the destroyed containers spawned temporary containers except the last one. In the very next test, only the first and last destroyed containers spawned temporary containers.

Attached is a video showing one of my tests. The first two destroyed containers spawn temporary containers, while the last three that were destroyed do not. Also attached is the save file for my tests.
