Hello, engineer!

Thank you for writing to us, and we sincerely apologize for the issue you have been experiencing.

Just to be sure, are you trying to launch the game through the Space Engineers (.exe) file or from Steam?

If you're trying to launch from the .exe file, try to open it as 'Run as administrator'. Check if that resolves the issue for you.

If the issue still occurs, please check if your OS and graphic drivers are updated. After the update, launch the game again and see if the issue persists.

If the issue still occurs, please try 'clean installation' of the game. To do so, first, go to \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers and copy/paste the Saves and Blueprints folders to a different drive or folder.

Then uninstall the game and remove any remaining files from both;

  • \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers
  • \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineers folders.

After completing the steps above, please reinstall the game through Steam, and check if the issue persists. If the issue no longer occurs, you can move your Saves and Blueprint folders back to \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

If the issue persists, please send us the log file.

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

If the game doesn't create a log file, please send us the log from the Windows Event Viewer when the crash occurred.

To get the Windows Event Viewer log, please open the Event Viewer (from the start menu, type Event Viewer). In the Event Viewer, go to Windows Logs, Application, and send the top “.NET Runtime” error from Application: SpaceEngineers.exe. (please see attached image).

To do this right, please follow these steps:

1) Select the correct file on the left side (Application)

2) Select first the .NET runtime error from the top (using default ordering)

3) Copy the large bottom text and send it to us.

Please Note: make sure that the info is from the Application: SpaceEngineers.exe

Kind Regards,

Hello, engineer!

Thank you for sharing the event viewer error text.

Could you confirm if this Event Viewer error occurred after you had already tried running SpaceEngineers.exe as an Administrator and after a clean installation of the game, as suggested in our previous response?

Additionally, does the game still fail to create any log file in its \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers folder?

The error in the Event Viewer text suggests that the game is trying to create a directory but encounters an error. Please check if the game has the necessary permissions to create directories and ensure there is enough disk space available.

Also, please try disabling your antivirus temporarily and then launch the game to see if that resolves the issue.

Kind Regards,

The Win Event log is after Steam downloaded and installed the SE Signal update (1.204). Game was already uninstalled few times to try fix the issue but simply told.

1. Game is updated to Signal update or new fresh install

2. Double click Space Engineers.exe or Play button in Steam will execute the .exe but after 1-2sec it is lost from task manager and Steam reset the play button.

The exe crash like i have 2GB RAM but my PC has 16GB of RAM

3. Folder C:\Users\*******\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers not have any "Space engineers" log or "VRageRender-" log

4. Win Event log say what i pasted here

-------------------------------------------

If i want to play SE i need to go to Beta tab and tell Steam i want (1.203.6) version

After download game start without problem.

Game is installed on SSD drive (not system drive)

Hello, engineer!

Thank you for providing more information, and we apologize for the continued issue you're experiencing.

You mentioned that the game is installed on an SSD. Is it installed on a portable/external SSD? If so, could you try installing the game on your internal drive to see if that resolves the issue?

Kind Regards,

Both versions are installed on same secondary internal SSD as you game was running slow on HDD, your game generate large amount of data and my SystemSSD is not large to store SE+local mods+WorkshopMods

Last tested v1.204 Signal install had 0 workshop mods.

I removed all to try solve crashing issue but did not helpEvent log Error was created right after i run SE.exe updated to Signal update (1.204).

I have like 8 same spam of Elog errors as i try solve why SE (1.204) is instantly crashing.

Again going to beta tab and back to previous (1.203.6) ver SE runs OK without problems and no Elog error created.

Do your game have some exe -parameter like "Safe mode"?

Run it like:

-Without sound

-Low resolution

-Only on CPU ( iGPU )

-Videos disabled

-Not search for mods or DLC content (0% DLC + Mods)

Some very old games have safe modes for like audio cards issues

Hello, Engineer!

To further resolve this issue, please try the following workarounds:

  • Open Task Manager and end all tasks related to Space Engineers running in the background.
  • Verify the game's files (ensure you have installed the latest version of the game):
  1. Open Steam Client
  2. Right-click on Space Engineers in your Steam Library
  3. Select Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Clear all launch options from Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → General.
  • Delete the SpaceEngineers.cfg file (this will reset your game configuration):
  1. Access the file by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar, which will redirect you to the hidden Roaming folder.
  2. Navigate to \Roaming\SpaceEngineers and delete SpaceEngineers.cfg.
  • Delete the ShaderCache folder:
  1. Use the same access method as for SpaceEngineers.cfg.
  • Launch the game from Steam. If the game still fails to launch, check the game path on your SSD:
  1. Original Path (Long): D:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineers\
  2. Try reinstalling or moving the installed game files/folders via Steam to a new path (Short): D:\SE\
  • Once done, verify the game files again and try to launch the game.

Please let us know if any of the above steps resolve your issue.

I backup my save data and deleted the whole SE folder in appdata and reinstall game as v1.204 + verify.

Pushing play in Steam make same behavior/manner as before.

Game just crash after 2 second running.

Event log give me same error.

I do not get why your game have so many issues while i can play Cyberpunk, Fallout4 and even Starfield at low but with no issues...

Even trash can game like "Empyrion - Galactic Survival" runs out of box

SE runs only by version (1.203.6)
