Need More Information

Dear Support!

I reinstalled the game recently, but the workshop contents don't download. The steam tries to download the contents in every 10 minutes, but it can't. When I try to start a map with mods, the game freezes at loading. Can you help me with this problem?

Thank you in addition,

János

Hello, János,

thank you for reaching our forum with this problem that you are experiencing.

Can you please provide me more information?

What exactly means "recently"? Was it just around the time you wrote this thread to us (so after the current v203.628 updated), or it was before the update happened (thus on version 203.505 or earlier)?

Are you able to launch the game at all, or it won't launch due to this validating/downloading?

Does this apply to your Workshop items; you have uploaded them? Or to those that you have subscribed?

Are we speaking about Steam Workshop, or are you using Mod.io as well? Can the problem be observed with blueprints, mods etc. from there?

What part of the Workshop items are broken for you? Mods? Worlds? Blueprints? All of it?

Does you local blueprints still work without any change?

Can you please check the game options, if the cloud option is enabled in the game? To do so, please navigate yourself to the Main menu -> Options -> Game. There you want to check that you have the option Steam cloud enabled.

Since you are writing that you have issues with starting a modded worlds, does that mean that you can start new game (without any mods) just fine and is working for you?

Is this problem happening on worlds with specific mod?

Please try these workarounds first, as they solve most of the issues for our players:

  • Verify your game files in Steam – right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) – you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder – same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Please let me know if anything from this list worked for you. If not, can you please share me a log file from any of your game sessions where you experienced this problem?

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards

I reinstalled it 3 days ago, on Sunday. the workshop mods and blueprints didn't downloaded either before nor after the update (I didn't try with workshop worlds)

On a vanilla world (I can also make new worlds) the game loads and works, but the fps counter shows 70-80 fps, it looks like 20-30 fps and the game stops for a moment in every second.

On a modded world (steam workshop mods, I don't use Mod.io) it starts loading the world, but it stucks at the mod loading, and freezes on the mod loading screen after 5-10 minutes. I tried with differently modded worlds, same problem.

I haven't uploaded workshop items, I tried with subscribed ones. Local blueprints work.

Steam cloud disabled.

After the steps above (except reinstalling VC Redist 2017, because the installer said that a newer version is already installed) the only thing that changed is the game not freezes after stuck with mod loading (I was able to click on the cancel button after 8 minutes)
