Ships Visually Moving while docked due to rotor bug

Kyrk Curtis shared this bug 4 months ago
Won't Fix

Did a Crane Style Setup with the arm coming from the top of it. Had a rotor facing down, the block i was going to rotate, and another rotor facing down. on the bottom rotor, i used merge blocks to connect it with the top rotor's grid and the ground for stability. When i did this, all the ships started visually moving from their docked position(they were not actually moving, only visually).

Here is a video of me re-creating it, along with a blueprint of the original setup

Hello, Kyrk,

thank you for letting us know about this problem and we are sorry that it is happening on your side.

I have tried it on the provided blueprint, but even though I did observe it to some degree, it is hard for me to reproduce it reliably and fully just with the blueprint itself, as there are some blocks/parts missing when pasting the whole blueprint and it is split to multiple grids. Are there any modded blocks on the provided blueprint? If yes, can you reproduce the very same when using just the vanilla blocks and playing in not-modded world?

Would it be possible to share me the save file where this grid is already in place, please? Also it would be great if you can provide reliable steps to reproduce including the real names of the blocks you have used there (so instead of "rotor" can you please let me know specifically e.g. "drill main rotor" so I know exactly to what blocks I should pay attention to). If you could mention which parts/grids are/should be Station/static and which Ships/dynamic in this scenario, that might help as well.

You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.

Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards
