Unfortunately, I was not able to reproduce this issue on my end. It seems to be highly connected to the layout of the grid/projector and what blueprint you are using. Would it be possible to share me both of these, please?
That way I will be able to follow the steps shown in video and investigate this issue in the very same environment that you are using.
For saves:
You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.
Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.
For blueprints:
You can access your blueprints files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Blueprints. Select the correct folder where your blueprint is saved (local or cloud), zip the file and attach it here.
Thank you in advance.
Kind Regards

Hi, are you sure this is a duplicate? The thread you mentioned reported a problem with installing pistons next to each other. It is also reported here that it is impossible to weld an assault cannon next to the piston. Please note that all other blocks are welded next to the piston. There are also no problems with installing a cannon in a blueprint in a creative (the problem only appears when welding). So the problem is most likely in the assault cannon and not in the piston.

Perhaps the title of the topic should be changed to - "assault cannon does not welding near the piston"
