Can't see the world on the ethernet cable connection

Solved

Hi,

there's a problem. Basically, if I do connect to server with my ethernet cable connection and there's no matter if it's steam hosted, or dedicated server, I have empty world. Also no one can join my steam-hosted server. But if I change my connection from cable to the wifi network, which is coming out exactly from the same router I can connect to anyone, and anyone can connect to me.

Any idea what causes this? For example, on my cable connection in Terraria there's no problem with joining servers or letting anyone to join the server. I mean I firstly met this problem in Space Engineers, and only in SE.

I've made video for you to understand the problem even better.

Hello, engineer!

Thank you for writing to us, and we sincerely apologize for the issue you have been experiencing.

Although we attempted to replicate the issue using an Ethernet cable at our end, we did not encounter a similar issue. We were able to join other servers, and other players could connect to ours without issues.

Could you kindly provide further information regarding the issue you are experiencing?

Is this issue specific to joining the particular server shown in the video, or does it occur with other servers as well? Also, is there any VPN active on your side? If so, please disable the VPN and try again.

Since the server you were trying to join had active MODs, please try to join our Keen Official servers (these servers have no MODs). If the issue persists when joining our servers, please try the following workarounds to check if they resolve the issue:

Verify your game files on Steam

  • Right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file

  • It means your game configuration will be deleted
  • You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Delete ShaderCache folder

  • Same access as SpaceEngineers.cfg
  • Backup your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic and router drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is also fully updated

If after trying the above workarounds, the issue doesn't occur when joining our official servers but persists on that particular modded server, the issue might be due to broken or obsolete MODs that are active on that server. We recommend reviewing the active MODs there and removing any that are broken or obsolete.

In case the issue persists when joining our official servers as well, kindly provide us with a screen recording/video showing the issue as it occurs when joining our servers, along with the log from the time the issue occurred.

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind Regards,

Hi,

You said "Update graphic and router drivers" which gave me an idea, that I've some network adapter driver "Killer E2500 Gigabit Ethernet Controller", which was fabric installed into my computer. This was causing the problem. I turned off every settings in there and well it's now fixed.

I would want to comment also, that I've recorded a video before which I linked in previous post, where it shows that I can connect to the servers on wi-fi and also there's 6:30 chapter that where I'm connecting to the Keens official server. Well. What would change reinstalling SE, while it's working on the other connection(wi-fi), right?

Anyway it's working now the problem was the "killer" driver.

Thanks for help.

Hello, engineer!

Thank you for sharing the update.

We're pleased to hear that you're no longer experiencing the issue.

Regarding the recommendation to reinstall the game, sometimes obsolete/residual files can remain within the game, causing certain errors. Reinstalling the game removes these files and typically resolves such issues.

Since the issue has been resolved and there is no further assistance needed from our side, we will close this thread now.

Please do not hesitate to contact us again should you experience/observe any other issue in the game.

Happy Engineering!

Kind Regards,

Keen Software House: QA Department
