controller support in steam remote play

i am wondering if anybody has a solution or explanation:
i can play with my Xbox one s controller connected to my pc using usb
but when i launch space engineers using steam link and pair my controller to my phone,
no input is registered.
the controller is supported navigating big picture using remote play, and playing other games through remote play works as normal, any reason why this is happening?
