Game wont launch

Won't Fix

Hi, Just downloaded Space Engineers but am unable to launch the game. When I click on game to open it crashes the PC and have to restart.

I have tried uninstalling and re installing.

I have checked my PC meets the requirements for the game.

Tried starting the game with firewall and antivirus turned off just incase it was that.

I cant for the life of me figure out why it wont start.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou

Hello Scott Taylor,

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing crashes and are unable to play Space Engineers. Here are some steps which can help you to launch the game:

If you are using any plugins, scripts and mods, please disable those.

Verify your game files in Steam

-Right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

Delete ShaderCache folder

-You can access it by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it

Restart Steam

Reinstall VC Redist 2017

Update graphic drivers

Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Please let me know if any of the above worked. In case you are still experiencing the crashes, please share your latest log with me. It is possible that there will be none since you have not successfully launched the game yet.

Hello Scott Taylor,

Thank you for the log file. Can you please try to start the game in windowed mode and also lower your graphic settings to low if possible?

Have you got any background applications running in the background? If so, please close them when trying to launch the game.

Can you check if your PC is overheating when trying to start Space Engineers? Have you ever had trouble trying to launch any other game?

Thank you in advance.

HI,

I tried the windowed mode but the same happened. I get around 3 seconds in and the entire pc freezes. Sometimes I'm able to end the program but mostly have to restart the PC. Attached a snap of what i get frozen on after 3 seconds.

I have stopped any background programs I had running. I was running Geforce Experience and thinking it could be something to do with that but get the same results after deletion.

No overheating and I've not had a problem launching any other game.

Is there anything else i could try please ?

Many thanks

Hello Scott Taylor,

Thank you for the additional information. Unfortunately, from the information you have given me it seems like the issue is caused by the hardware or software rather that the game itself. I could not find any indication of the crash in the log and since your PC freezes it means that either the operating system needs to be reinstalled or it could be a problem with the hardware malfunctioning.

I recommend you contact the Microsoft support and ask if there is anything you can do or for help with reinstalling Windows. Since this is out of scope of Space Engineers I cannot offer support with it.

Thank you for understanding. If there is anything else I can do for you, please let me know.
