Game running as a background process

Alligator shared this bug 15 months ago
Won't Fix

When I try to launch the game through Steam, nothing seems to happen. When I check Task Manager, I see the game running as a background process. This obviously means I cannot actually play the game. This just happened today, out of nowhere. The game has worked fine on this PC for years. I have already tried verifying the game files, reinstalling the game, and running in administrator mode, none of which made any difference. How can I get the game running normally again?

Hello Alligator,

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing problems when launching Space Engineers. Since you've already attempted some common solutions, here are a few additional steps you can take to resolve the problem:

1. Update your graphic drivers: Outdated or corrupt graphics drivers can cause various gaming issues. Make sure your graphics drivers are up-to-date. Visit the official website of your GPU manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel) to download and install the latest drivers for your specific graphics card.

2. Update your operating system: Ensure that your operating system is up-to-date.

3. Background applications: Some background applications or services might conflict with the game. Try disabling or exiting all non-essential applications running in the background.

5. DirectX and Visual C++ Redistributables: Ensure you have the latest version of DirectX and Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable installed. Game installations usually come with these files, but they might be outdated. You can download them from the official Microsoft website.

If you are still unable to launch the game properly, please share your log file with me.

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Thank you in advance.
