Steam Cloud not allowing blueprint or world saving

Clemence Yi shared this bug 12 months ago
Need More Information

For about the last year, I have been unable to save any blueprints or worlds to the steam cloud without an error -> k_EResultFail. However, if I remove images from the blueprints and then publish, I am able to upload blueprints. I have followed forum threads and nothing works.

Things I have tried include:

- reinstalling windows

- reinstalling space engineers

- deleting old blueprints

- trying a different version of windows

Space Engineers reports 199.2 MB used of 381 MB

Hello, Clemence,

thank you for reaching our forum with this issue that you are experiencing.

However, when I did try on my end, there was no issue for me to create and use the Steam cloud blueprints.

Can you please provide me more information?

First of all – as you are mentioning worlds – that was never meant to work like this. The Steam cloud works only with blueprints, not worlds.

When I have the Steam cloud option ticked in the Options – Game, everything was working on my end.

Can you please try to check if it is checked properly? Maybe try to uncheck it (if checked) and then re-enable it again, just to be sure that the option is On properly.

Can you show me what exactly is happening on your side, please? Share me a video of you trying to make a Steam cloud blueprint, so I can see what exactly is happening, how the error looks like, when it pops out etc.

All the other options are working fine for you? Are you able to create a local blueprint and such?

How does the blueprints look like on your PC, please?

You can access your blueprints files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Blueprints. Go to cloud folder and share me a image of some blueprint that is not working for you (if present in the folder at all)... because on my end, the images/thumbnails are actually the only files in the cloud blueprints folders.

Do you mean that you delete the thumbnail from this folder? Or in the game? When trying to do the blueprint, did you also try option "Take screenshot" in order to change the thumbnail?

Also please let me know what the Steam is saying on the game's page in your Library. Is there "Cloud status – up to date"?

You can try our general workarounds:

  • Verify your game files in Steam – right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) – you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder – same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam

Please let me know if any of this helped you to solve your issue.

If not, please share me a log file from the game session where you are experiencing this issue.

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Also please try to share me a save file with some grids that you have problem to blueprint properly, so I can try on my end and see if I would be able to make cloud blueprints as expected.

You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.

Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards

Hello,

1. What I meant was publishing worlds to the Steam Workshop

2. I have all of the Steam stuff activated, and I have tried every one of the workarounds - it isn't just the one computer, I just got this new desktop with a fully clean install and I had the exact same problems

3. When attempting to publish a world/blueprint to the workshop, it creates an empty, unnamed item in my Steam Workshop but doesn't actually upload the item, giving me the error

4. Yes, I have to delete the screenshot from the folder to make it work

5. I will send an example blueprint and world in a bit, but this issue exists across hundreds of blueprints and across at least 10 different worlds, four of which are brand new

6. Yes, local blueprints work fine
