Server Disconnect while spawning blueprints

Ross Davidson shared this bug 7 months ago
Solved

I created a server using the steam server host to allow crossplay between me and some friends and everything was working perfectly until I tried to spawn a ship blueprint. Every time I do I lose connection to the server, the console doesn't tell me anything that can help only that I lost connection. Just wondering if anyone has the same issue? The server is running off EOS

Hello, Ross,

thank you for letting us know about this issue and we are sorry that you are experiencing it in a first place.

Can you please provide me more information?

Since you are writing "...server using the steam server host to allow crossplay..." what do you have exactly in mind? Can you explain me the settings of your server?

This server that you have created, it is by using our dedicated server app on Steam and setting up the server in our DSGUI? Or are you using any other provider?

What other servers have you tried? Is the issue the same on some of our servers (Keen official)?

Are there any mods active on the server?

The same blueprint that is not working on server, works just fine in SP game?

After you are able to connect back, is the blueprint that you tried to paste in the game, or the action did not finish at all and these grids are not pasted?

Once you are disconnected, it only affects your game and not the server? All other players are still on the server and able to continue playing?

Are you the only one who is experiencing this issue or do other players (on the server) experience the same issue when trying to paste blueprints?

Does this happen with only one (or some) blueprints of yours, or with all that you have tried? If one (or some) can you please share me the blueprints itself so I can try to paste it into my game as well, please?

You can access your blueprints files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Blueprints. Select the correct folder where your blueprint is saved (local or cloud), zip the file and attach it here.

It would be also good if you can share me both logs – from your game and from the server as well.

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers(Dedicated). You can locate the most recent logs in these folders.

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards

Hi, thanks for responding,

I am using the steam dedicated server tool. I had some mods loaded at the time, I will try without mods tonight.

The issue only happens with a few blueprints from the steam workshop, notably the larger ones.

It has happened on other community servers hosted on EOS, I have not tried steam yet, but I am able to spawn the blueprints in other user hosted game sessions on steam.

I will try again once I get home without any mods and get back to you

Thanks

Hi,

The blueprint seems to be spawning fine now, I changed from EOS servers to steam servers and removed my mods and it seems to be fine now. I'm not sure what cause it so I will send my most recent server log in case anyone else runs into this issue and a proper solution can be found

Hello, Engineer,

thank you for you replies.

Happy to hear that after our initial conversation the issue is no more present neither for you.

These logs that you have shared are clean and there is nothing to observe; which make sense since the issue is no longer happening.

I will close this thread now, as the problem that it was talking about, is now solved.

Please do not hesitate to contact us again if you happen to observe/experience any other issue in the game.

Thank you.

Happy Engineering!

Kind Regards
