No Savegame loads

I Wink shared this bug 7 months ago
Won't Fix

Till now the game was running fine and I had no problems, even with mods.

Then my PC restartet and the game was closed down hardly without being able to quit or save.

I realized that something to the game happened, because after starting it and trying to load a savegame, there came a message that I had to agree to mod.io, what I had alreay done before..

I tried to load my last game, after 80 or 90% there came a window "Welt wird geschlossen".

While loading the world, an error occured... look at the logfile...

Sorry, but I can't find the reason in this logfiles!

And please don't tell me I hae to remove all mods! All my mods worked fine right now!

There must be something happend to the modfiles I think. But how can I force the game to repair or renew them (download them again) without loosing all my savegames?

Hello, I Wink,

thank you for letting us know about this issue.

After investigating your log file I have spotted the exception that is most likely the reason why this issue is happening to you.

It has also happened to other player and they manage to solve it by going to their game folder and deleting the ViewedContent.sbl file.

You can access your game folder by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and in this folder the mentioned file can be found.

If this won't solve your issue, you might also want to try our other general workarounds/fixes. Those are:

  • Verify your game files in Steam – right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) – you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder – same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Please let me know if anything from above works for you. If not, send me please new log file after performing these steps and still experiencing said issue.

Moreover, while I do not force you by any means to unload/disable your mods, it is always good practice (especially after the game update), to play it for a while without mods. Or if you are experiencing any issue in your modded game to try the same in some newly started without any mods loaded in. As it might take some time for the mod owners/creators to update their mods in order to work with the new game version; that is always up to mod creator/owner if any error rise from the mod usage. We do not provide support for mods, scripts or any other 3rd party SW.

Kind Regards
