I cannot control vehicle after connecting to connector and then detattaching

Šimon Kolenčík shared this bug 15 months ago
Solved

So i cannot fix this issue and i dont know if i am just dumb or something. I cannot find it on internet or youtube. The issue is that I build myself a working vehicle i tried rover and even flying one. Both made by youtube tutorials and they work perfect without anyproblem when i first start them after building them. But after i go with them to connector in my base to recharge them i lose them forever. They connect to connector fine and they recharge fine but the moment i want to take them off the connector and use them i cannot i can only press P for parking but not a single buttong is working. I cannot speed up rotate or anything. Also after disconnecting from connector battieries on rover shine orange. Gyroscope, Ore detector shine red. But rover is turned on, when i check in control panel everything seems fine nothing has changed from when the rover first started so i have no idea what to do. I cannot play the game because of this so its very sever to me. Verifying game files and also reinstalling didnt help. I am brand new to this game so like its possible that its something really silly but also in each videos i watched about building vehicles they had no problem with it.

Hello, Šimon,

thank you for reaching our forum with your problem.

Can you please provide me more information?

I haven't observed same situation on my side when tried with several rovers/cars. It would be best if you can share me the affected save file where this issue can be observed (the rover/car is also present there) so I can check it in your exact environment and with the same vehicles.

You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.

Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

If you can also provide me a video showing this issue so I know exactly what your actions are so I can follow, that would help as well.

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards

So i created another world in creative real quick and i builded just some random things and smaller version of my vehicle on original one everything is same only original is bigger - 3x medium cargo instead of 1 and bigger wheels that is the only difference only my base is different. In video everything is going as in original one, i can move then i had connected rover to base connector still same, but the moment i disconnet the rover i can still move with it in original i am unable to control rover even tho i did everything same only difference is that batteries are not full on original. Also this happened to me in previous worlds first where i builded a flying vehicle and same thing happened i wasnt able to control in but i was too lazy to contact you guys but when it happened in 2 and 3 world i created finally contacted you. So now i am really confused in creative my vehicle works in survival i am unable to control my vehicles after disconnecting them from base connector. Sorry for waiting took extremly long to uplode video here prob because its 3min just though it would be good to record everything i did before

Hello, Šimon,

thank you for writing back to me and for more profound explanation.

But to be able to differentiate where the issue is on your exact builds, I really would need to see them and try on my own.

Could you please provide the save files/worlds I requested in my previous response?

Thank you.

Hello, Šimon,

thank you for providing the files again. From what I can see it wasn't added the first time. So thank you for uploading it to Google drive.

However, can you please set the file(s) there to be downloadable by anyone with the link? Currently, when I want to download the world, I can not, because I do not have access.

Please update the access/download rights and let me know once done so I can download it and have a look on your issue.

Thank you.

Hello, Šimon,

thank you for the updated link.

This time I was able to download it properly. Even though there was no video included, I was able to load the game and find the problem on the rover that you are using.

You are having two batteries on the grid that are not full (that's true), but still have plenty of power to supply to rest of the grid. However, the problem here was, that they were both set to Recharge (see my image) option in the Terminal under Charge Mode.

The Recharge option is good to use if you want the batteries to fill quickly when e.g. connected to the base, but it is also allowing the energy to only go into the batteries and not out of them to power the rest of your rover. You can see that by e.g. gyroscope being red or survival kit has Offline status on the screen.

Once this option is switched to Auto or Discharge, you can freely use the rover again.

Can you please try to switch the Charge Mode option to any other than Recharge and verify that it is also working for you like this?

Please let me know if there is anything more I can help you with.

Kind Regards

Thank you so much it worked ! I had set it to recharge because my base dont really have that much power yet (sometimes it goes off) and i though that if i will set it to auto and connect it to my base, my base might take the power from the rover no ?

Hello, Šimon,

happy to hear that this solved your problem.

Please for specific questions about battery (blocks in general) or other features of the game, consult online sources like our wiki or e.g. video tutorials on YouTube. You can also join our Discord community where you can share you experience, problems, ask questions etc. with other players.

Since the problem is no longer happening for you and there is nothing broken/bugged, I will close this thread.

Please do not hesitate to contact us again if you happen to observe/experience any other issue in the game.

Happy Engineering!

Kind Regards
