Viewing through searchlight causes loss of vehicle control

Stuart Alleyne shared this bug 8 months ago
Reported

In space if you are viewing through a search light and you input thruster or gyro control the vehicle will not recognize when the input has ended and will become extremely difficult to control until you exit the searchlight view.

To reproduce:

  1. build any basic large or small grid ship in space (thrusters, gyro, cockpit, etc)
  2. add a search light
  3. control the search light from a cockpit or control seat
  4. simply TAP any directional key or hold alt and input mouse control

Observed behavior:

Ship will accelerate to sim speed with no further input and/or rotate at full rotational speed with no further input. This is even though input has ended and with the inertia dampener active. Upon exiting searchlight control, normal ship behavior is reinstated.

Expected behavior:

Upon input release, the inertia dampener should bring the ship to a stop and translation/rotation should end while still in search light control.

Hello, Stuart!

Thank you for writing to us.

We tried to replicate the issue at our end, and it seems while controlling/viewing through the searchlight, the ship can be controlled as expected, and the gyro/thrusters react to inputs correctly. Please see the attached video for reference.

Could you kindly send us a screen recording/video showing the behavior in question at your end, along with the blueprint of your grid with which you're experiencing this issue?

  • You can access your blueprints files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Blueprints. Select the correct folder where your blueprint is saved (local or cloud), zip the file and attach it here.

Kind Regards,

Thanks for the video,

Yea it's definitely not doing that for me and its doing it in multiple game saves. I even made a brand new world just for this bug test. Survival with creative tools enabled (and invincible so I don't die lol). See attached files.
